Description

Casa Llotja de Mar, located on the sea front in the historical centre of Barcelona, is one of the most significant and splendid monuments representing the economy and culture of the city. It was built in the second-half of the 14th century, the most brilliant period of Catalan Gothic.

The present neoclassical building was constructed in the 18th century on top of the old medieval building. The antagonism of styles makes Casa Llotja a historical and artistic monument of immense architectural interest, to which is added the incalculable artistic value of its halls and rooms, decorated and enriched mainly with 18th- and 19th-century sculptures and paintings by students and professors of the Academy of Fine Arts.

Its wide variety of rooms makes it the perfect place for hosting all manner of different business events with excellence and singularity as the main references: presentations, lunches and gala dinners, conferences, advertising campaigns, fashion shows, concerts, receptions, press conferences, etc.
CONTRACTS HALL
A majestic formal space with charm, comfort, distinction and elegance.
The Contracts Hall is the most distinguished architectural piece of Casa Llotja de Mar, and has been conserved since the medieval period.
It is a large hall of 14m-high ceilings, with four columns and six arches that sustain the wooden beams of the upper floor.
The scallop shells on the arches alternate with the shields of the king and the city of Barcelona, as it was King Peter III and the Consell de Cent government institution who promoted the building’s construction.
This hall has been witness to the first opera held in Barcelona, the Jocs Florals historically related poetry contests and other cultural events.
GOLDEN ROOM
An elegant and exclusive space for a unique occasion.
The walls of the Golden Room in Casa Llotja are covered with Damascus silk tapestries featuring the shield and motto of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce. Particularly of note are the golden frames and pediments of the doors, the sculptures, furniture and the cut-glass teardrop chandeliers.
In the four corners of the hall, resting on cylindrical pedestals, are four white marble sculptures by Damià Campeny (1771-1855). The sculptures represent the figures of Conjugal Loyalty and the Nuptials, in reference to marriage; Diana the Huntress, the symbol of fertility; and Paris offering the apple of Beauty.
PLENARY ROOM
Tradition and cutting-edge technology at the service of your company.
This room, located in the former Montcada Chapel, was renovated in the year 2001.
It boasts the most modern equipment for holding meetings, conferences, debates and press conferences.
